Study Abroad: Semesters

The College of Mount Saint Vincent encourages students to live and learn in foreign countries for their formation as global citizens. Our study abroad programs broaden cultural and intellectual horizons and deepen the students’ perspective on their homes and the world.

The College participates in semester-long exchange programs with St. Mary’s University in London and the Florence University for the Arts, both offering courses for students in a variety of majors and concentrations.

The College also belongs to several consortia with which students are able to study in a number of countries while fulfilling Core or major/minor courses.  The College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS) offers a number of opportunities for semester, summer, and academic year-long programs for all majors and interests. Likewise, through the College’s participation in the Lower Hudson Valley Consortium of Catholic Colleges and Universities, students are able to participate in semesters and summer programs organized by St. John’s University, Manhattan College, and Iona College

Through its partnership with IPSL, a world leader in international education and service learning, the Mount offers semester-long and summer service learning programs across the globe. Students study at local universities and institutes while spending a number of hours a week in community-based service projects of their choice. The College also sponsors Alternative Spring Break trips, thus rounding out the possibilities, where students can travel as far away as Guatemala or as close to home as Kentucky to help the disadvantaged.

Students are encouraged to start planning early to adequately prepare for a semester or year abroad and should contact the office of Study Abroad to start discussing options.
